Challenges in designing a successful e-health system for Australia
Abstract
In this paper we contextualize the introduction of the Personally Controlled Electronic Health Records (PCEHRs) in Australia using the lens of relevant constructs identified in the literature of technology acceptance models and Information Systems success models. We provide a timely and up to date review of the challenges faced by PCEHRs implementation in Australia. It confirms the relevance of these systems to improve healthcare delivery and the general stakeholder's support for its implementation. However there are tremendous challenges to overcome towards a widely adopted and successful e-health system in Australia. In this paper we contextualize the introduction of the Personally Controlled Electronic Health Records (PCEHRs) in Australia using the lens of relevant constructs identified in the literature of technology acceptance models and Information Systems success models.
