    • Biographical / Historical note:John Henney (1791-1869) began work at the Bank of England in 1814, eventually becoming the "Sub Agent" of the Portsmouth branch of the Bank. He retired after 53 years, in 1867.
    • Summary:Holograph diary kept by John Henney in 1814, while he began employment at the Bank of England. Diary entries are written in pen and black ink, on blank leaves interleaved into a copy of Vox Stellarum; or, a Loyal Almanack for 1814. Henney takes lodgings at Mrs. Harding's, catches a cold, and suffers a toothache. He notes accounts, letters sent and received, wages, and a few personal notes.
