• Notes:"1.6.54. Queen Victoria statue damaged in British Guiana. Vandals, believed to be fanatic supporters of the People's Progressive Party, set off two dynamite explosions which rocked Georgetown's civic centre recently - and all but destroyed the magnificent marble statue of Queen Victoria which has stood for over 58 years in the grounds of the Law Courts. The explosion blew off the head of the statue; smashed away the left arm carrying the Orb and damaged other sections of the monument ..."--Verso.
  The statue by Henry Richard Hope-Pinker was unveiled in 1894.
