Local Notes:BAC: British Art Center has two copies. Copy 1 is the Abbey copy, a large paper copy with hand-colored engravings. Copy 2 is uncolored; the title page of each volume signed in manuscript "John Shan, 1798" (John Shan, vicar of Arreton on the Isle of Wight, died unmarried in 1799).

Notes:Illustrations by William Blake, Thomas Conder, Francesco Bartolozzi, Thomas Holloway, Inigo Barlow, Perry, Benedetti and A. Smith.
Thirteen plates are engraved by William Blake and were done while he was apprenticed to Basire. Three more plates are definitely attributed to him and he may have been responsible for others. See Abbey and Essick.
