• Summary:This series consists of financial and statistical records from 1860-1891 and1953-1963 pertaining to the foreign mission work of the Augustana Evangelical Lutheran Church (AUG). One ledger book contains handwritten entries of contributions to foreign mission work from the Augustana Synod from 1860-1891. It contains information from the earliest days of Augustana's participation in foreign mission work. This ledger is of particular value in that it shows where the Synod was sending its foreign mission funds before it created its own mission work overseas, such as the Lutheran Mission Society, Stockholm, Sweden, and the Hermannsburg Missions.
  The majority of the records are items related to budget adjustments to Board of World Missions (BWM) budgets for the years 1960-1963. It appears these adjustments occurred when revisions were needed for income or expenditure figures because of either additional income from grants received from other organizations, such as the Augustana Lutheran Church Women, or additional expenditure for grants issued by the BWM for mission field capital projects or programs. In addition to the information pertaining to budget adjustments, other records include correspondence regarding budget discussions and revisions, and copies of portions of BWM agendas and minutes in which issues regarding budget revisions were discussed. There is also a copy of a 1962 audit conducted for the BWM by Olson, Nelson & Company, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
  The remainder of this series is one folder containing statistical records. These records comprise forms required by the Lutheran World Federation (LWF). Information supplied in these forms relates to general information about a particular mission, the church, general education, religious education, welfare work, literature, finances, and foreign staff. The BWM came into possession of a copy of the completed form because the mission church was required to supply one copy to all church bodies providing assistance. There are earlier forms that were completed by whichever Lutheran church was in charge of a particular mission, but it is not known if the LWF required these forms. The forms do not have an indication as to what organization is requesting the information. The other LWF statistical form in this collection is one all missionary organizations were required to complete. In addition to the LWF forms, there are statistical information forms completed by the BWM as required by the National Lutheran Council. There is correspondence regarding these forms, and worksheets used by the BWM to complete them. Two oversized charts showing statistics for the Taiwan Lutheran Church for 1958 and 1961 were removed and placed in an oversized folder located in the map case. Duplicates were removed.
