Copyright is retained by the creator of this collection for materials he has authored or otherwise produced. After the lifetime of the creator, copyright passes to Graziella Sidoli, during her lifetime, as literary executrix of the estate of Paolo Valesio, following which such rights become the property of Yale University Library. Transmission or reproduction of materials protected by U.S. Copyright Law (Title 17, U.S.C.) beyond that allowed by fair use requires the written permission of the copyright owners. Biographical / Historical

Paolo Valesio, poet and Italian language and literature scholar, was born in Bologna, Italy, in 1939. He was educated at the University of Bologna, and has held teaching positions at the University of Bologna, Harvard University, and New York University. He began teaching in the Department of Italian Language and Literature at Yale University in 1976 and had served as department chairman and director of graduate studies during his tenure. Valesio retired as an emeritus professor before joining the Department of Italian at Columbia University in 2005.
