Scope and Contents
The collection consists of handbills (chirashi), press kits, theater pamphlets, film newsletters, and catalogs that date from circa 1970 to the present. The collection documents over 600 contemporary Japanese directors and their films, as well as major film festivals and events in Japan. The bulk of the materials were generated in Japan and are in Japanese, however, some English-language publicity materials are included. The collection offers a substantial resource for researchers investigating contemporary Japanese film, as well as individual films and filmmakers.
