内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 The purpose of this experiment was to examine the priming effects of phonological information of Kanji words upon reading task and lexical decision task. Subjects were forty-two college students. Twenty-one subjects were assigned one of two task conditions, reading task or lexical decision task condition. The experiment was conducted individually and presentation of stimulus, all time factors and records of responses were all controlled by Macintosh Performa 5320 computer programmed by Super-Mind Lab. Versionl.4 program. In the experiment, we used priming paradigm in which a prime stimulus was followed by a target stimulus. Subjects made the reading task or the lexical decision task of target kanji words. The primes and targets were two-character kanji words or non-words. Five priming conditions were as follows, the identical character condition, the same character condition, the different character condition, the unrelated character condition, and the neutral condition. Each condition was composed of the prime stimulus and target stimulus with same shared characters in phonology and meaning or not. We used the response time (RT) of correct responses to target stimulus as measures. Moreover, we calculated the priming effects with the measures which subtract RT in the identical, the same, the different or the unrelated condition from RT in the neutral condition. Main results were as follows: In the reading task, we observed the large positive priming effects in the identical, same, and different character condition, but didn't observe the priming effect in the unrelated character condition. These results showed that only phonological representation was required to the phonological processing of target stimulus. On the contrary, in the lexical decision task, we observed the large positive priming effects in the identical and same conditions, but didn't observe the priming effects in the different and unrelated conditions. These results showed that only meaningful representation was required to the meaningful processing of target stimulus. However we didn't observe the priming effects in the different condition. This result was incompatible with the result of previous study. As the result of additional analysis, we found that the difference was attributed to the difference of place of accent between priming stimulus and target stimulus.
