No interior das muralhas. Práticas e discursos artísticos de uma brasileira imigrante sobre a domesticidade, imigração, identidade e violência contra as mulheres

Abstract

O presente Trabalho de Projecto do Mestrado em Práticas Artísticas em Artes Visuais, busca compreender as questões de identidade, imigração e estereótipos criados em torno das mulheres imigrantes brasileiras em Portugal, tendo por pano de fundo uma linha orientadora que cruza três vectores, a saber, as artes visuais, as humanidades e os estudos de género. No decorrer desta investigação, defendemos uma arte empenhada nas questões sociais e políticas, e no seu poder comunicativo, bem como na sua importante contribuição para a tomada de consciência das pessoas relativamente a estes assuntos, possibilitando a fomentação de novas ideias e de pensamento crítico. A investigação teórica e prática, partiu do campo do autobiográfico e assenta nas vivências pessoais de imigrantes brasileiras estudantes e trabalhadoras domésticas a residirem em Évora, Portugal, de modo a reflectir sobre as nossas identidades, histórias de vida, experiências estigmatizantes e formas de resistência, e criar um conjunto de instalações e projectos artísticos que traduzam estas preocupações e reflexões, contribuindo para dar visibilidade a estas realidades. Esta investigação, teórica e prática, foi um modo de resistirmos e ultrapassarmos os estereótipos e condições de vida a que estamos sujeitas no nosso dia-a-dia e um modo de compreender em profundidade as "muralhas" que se criam em torno das mulheres imigrantes brasileiras; ABSTRACT: The present Work Project of the Masters in Artistic Practices invisual Arts seeks to understand the issues of identity, immigration and stereotypes created around Brazilian immigrant women in Portugal, having as a background a guideline that crosses three vectors, namely, the visual arts, humanities and gender studies. During the course of this research, we defend an art that is committed to social and political issues, and its communicative power, as well as its important contribution to the awareness of people in relation to these matters, which allows the development of new ideas and critical thinking. The theoretical and practical investigation started from the field of autobiography and is based on personal experiences of Brazilian immigrant women, students and domestic workers residing in Évora, Portugal, in order to reflect on our identities, life histories, stigmatizing experiences and forms of resistance, and to create a set of installations and artistic projects that translate these concerns and reflections, contributing to the visibility of these realities. This theoretical and practical investigation was a way of resisting and overcoming the stereotypes and conditions of life we are subjected to in our daily lives and a way of understanding in depth the "walls" that are created around Brazilian immigrant women.
