Abstract
The establishment of stopbanks at a selected contour level and of an adequate internal drainage system in combination with pumping could protect some 9600 ha of shorelands currently being periodically inundated by brackish lake water. The economic returns from such measures look favourable. Wildlife, sport and commercial fisheries, duck-shooting and boating should not be interfered with if an integrated plan for access and wildlife breeding is developed.
