Counseling the university professor on the securing of research grants and publishing of research products

This essay draws from my personal observation and experience as a graduate student, a postdoctoral fellow, a part-time lecture, and a tenure-track faculty in academia in the past decade. It also benefits from my conversations with friends, classmates, and colleagues in various academic settings. My major point of view is: To accomplish what is expected of an academic career, prospective participants have to build a personal network for continual research funding and continual publication of their research products.
