Masters Thesis

Design of a Low Noise Amplifier

The purpose of this master's project is to design a low noise amplifier with cascading different amplifier stages together for specific design conditions. The aim of this project is to design a three stage low noise amplifier using minimum noise amplifier and maximum gain amplifier design. The final cascaded design should be able to satisfy the desired specifications using specific transistor at required frequency. The goal is to design a LNA which has maximum gain with low noise figure. The process begins with selecting a proper transistor, DC biasing of the transistor, checking stability conditions, gain, designing matching network, and calculating noise figure for every stage of the cascaded design. As the LNA is designed, the results obtained by hand calculations are certified by MATLAB simulation, Smith Chart and by simulation using Agilent ADS software.
