Exploring Men of Colors Feelings toward Their Children Receiving Mental Health Services
The purpose of this study was to explore men of colors experiences with participating in their child's mental health services. The researchers conducted (n= 11) semi-structured interviews utilizing an interview guide. The results indicated a common theme amongst men of color of having work conflicts and teamwork with their wife or other family members. In discussion, it appears that there is not a lack of positive feelings towards mental health or interest in involvement, but instead a gap between wanting to participate and ability to do so, perhaps more research should be done about strategies effectively enabling fathers to participate in mental health services.
