Abstract

'Earth's Matters - Reabilitation Project in Requeixo, Aveiro' is a thesis which consists on the aproach to earth architecture's subjects, having as a study case a house built in adobe in Requeixo. Its a purpose to develop a practical work based on a critical thinking about the land's reality, where traditional earth construction techniques, more precisely adobe, have been forgotten. For this reason, the landscape is flooded with abandoned buildings which live side by side with the residents' houses built in bricks and concrete. Therefore, the practical work is a proposition of reabilitation of the old episcopal house in Rua do Sobral, Requeixo, a project fundamented in the investigation and the reflection about the importance of the preexisting and the circumstances around it. At the same time, this project comes up during several worries, which are normal in the act of projecting, but most of the times are justified by the initial lack of knowledge about the earth construction techniques.
