| Abstract: | Based on two French textbooks which had several editions over the first half of the 20th century, this article seeks to identify a set of real or symbolic relations between men and women, marked by gender, reflected in these textbooks. Those relations are founded on an educational concept of the school that reproduces and perpetuates traditional distinct social roles, as well as a binary view of the masculine and the feminine, the textbook functioning as a medium in the transmission of a worldview, inevitably guiding the learner. |
| Description: | A partir da abordagem de dois manuais de francês que conheceram várias reedições ao longo da primeira metade do século XX, o presente artigo procura identificar um conjunto de relações reais ou simbólicas entre homens e mulheres, marcadas pelo género, e que esses manuais reflectem, assentes que estão numa concepção educativa da instituição escolar que reproduz e faz perdurar, tradicionais papéis sociais distintos, bem como uma visão binária do masculino e do feminino, funcionando o manual como medium, na transmissão de uma mundividência inevitavelmente orientadora do sujeito aprendente. |
