[EN] The partition of the estuarine ecosystems between groups of congeneric associates has been considered by JEFFREs (1962, 1967), as the more effective mechanism in the complete exploitation of their resour-Ces. Its environmental variability and the existence of a gradient in several ecological factors along the axis of the estuary offers good opportunities for the segregation of these congeneric associates, and it also promotes the fixation of new genotypes which can enlarge the adaptation capacity of a simple genetic combination.
