ResumenThe dry reforming of coke oven gases over an activated carbon used as catalyst has been studied with the aim of producing syngas suitable for methanol synthesis. The experiments were carried at different temperatures (800-1000 ºC) and volumetric hourly space velocities (0.75-1.50 L g-1 h-1) in order to study their effect on the process and the resulting syngas. It was found that the Reverse Water Gas Shift reaction has great influence on the process giving rise to the consumption of the H2 present in the COG. This reaction can be avoided working at high temperatures (1000 ºC), allowing producing suitable syngas for methanol synthesis with this method.
