Bandeo G en Eyprepocnemis plorans

Abstract

Sequential appllcation of trypsin and 2xSSC to mitotic chromosomes of Eyprepocnemis plorans embryos reveals several interesting facts: 1) In the chromosomes X, 9, 10 and 11 lsght regions appear as secondary constrictions, presumably coincsdsng wsth the NORs. 2) Centromeric regions appear lightly stained. 3) The B chromosome shows a bandsng pattern similar to that of C-banding, al though with a better definitlon. 4) Supernumerary chromosome segments seem to respond like the B chromosome: that darkly C-bunded in the Sll chromosome of E.plorans stains also darkly with our technique. On the contrary, those non C-banded in the S9 and S11 chromosomes of Chortoicetes terminifera appear lightly stained with the G-banding technique of Webb (1976).
