Abstract

This is an issue of a Geological journal devoted to oceanic ridges. This special issue results from the will of the editors to show new studies about oceanic ridges to the Spanish and international scientilic community. This special issue is mainly addressed to marine geologists and geophysicists but can also be of great interest to geochemists and biologists. It is al so very informative for non-specialists interested in planetary sciences. This issue shows some of the research that Spain is developing in oceanic ridges. New scientists and new technology -especially that installed in the new Spanish research vessel "Hesperides"- guarantee an increasing growth of oceanic ridge studies in Spanish research centres and confirm that Spain can make a significant contribution to the InterRIDGE project [...]
