Kittens from 9 to 42 days old were used. Chandelier cells can be recognized in 9-day-old kittens as a distinct neuronal variety. In the 15- and 23-day-old kittens chandelier cells develop axonal complexes elongated vertically. In the 42-day-old kitten, they seem to have attained their adult morphology.
