Proposta de implementação de um modelo Balanced Scorecard na Enging, S.A.

Abstract

The following report was compiled within the scope of the curricular internship realized to obtain the Master's degree in Management by the FEUC, which took place between February 15, 2021 and June 21, 2021 at the company Enging - Make Solutions, SA in Coimbra.Today's economic situation is characterized by the market globalization and the competition between which stimulates the birth of new methodologies of evaluation and performance analysis. To tackle the new matches set by the new reality of business, Kaplan and Norton (1992), introduced, at the beginning of the 90's, the concept of Balanced Scorecard. In this sense, the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) reveals itself as a fundamental instrument in the assessment of organizational performance. This management instrument shows different characteristics if we compare with the standard models of management. The introduction of finance and non-finance indicators, the relation between long run indicators and short run indicators, the introduction of cause-effect relations in diverse perspectives (Finance, Clients, Intern Processes, Learning and Growth) are the innovating characteristics of this model.After a literature review on the BSC, its genesis, its importance in the formulation and implementation of strategies, as well as in the effective exercise of management control in the organization, this study is based in a proposal of Balanced Scorecard adjusted to the reality of the financial and administrative department of Enging, S.A., since the main objective is to praise the value of using this model and to implement it in this company.

O seguinte relatório foi construído no âmbito do estágio curricular realizado para a obtenção do grau de mestre em Gestão pela Faculdade de Economia da Universidade de Coimbra, que se realizou no período entre 15 de fevereiro de 2021 e 21 de junho de 2021 na empresa Enging – Make Solutions, S.A. em Coimbra. A conjuntura económica que tem vigorado na atualidade e no passado recente é marcada pela globalização dos mercados e pela crescente competitividade entre as organizações, o que incentiva o surgimento de novas metodologias de avaliação e acompanhamento da performance organizacional. Neste sentido, o Balanced Scorecard (BSC) revela-se como um instrumento fundamental na avaliação do desempenho organizacional. Este instrumento demonstra caraterísticas diferenciadoras relativamente aos sistemas de controlo de gestão tradicionais, ao integrar indicadores financeiros e não financeiros, ao articular indicadores de curto e médio/longo prazo e ao considerar relações de causa-efeito entre as várias perspetivas incluídas na ferramenta (Financeira; Clientes; Processos Internos; Aprendizagem e Crescimento).Após uma revisão de literatura relativa ao BSC, sua génese, a sua importância na formulação e implementação de estratégias, bem como no exercício efetivo de controlo de gestão na organização, o trabalho realizado assenta numa proposta de construção do modelo Balacend Scorecard ajustado à realidade do departamento financeiro e administrativo da Enging, S.A., dado que o objetivo superlativo é o de incentivar a sua difusão e implementação em toda a entidade.
