Arthur S., an alumnus of Wake Forest College (Class of 1926), and his wife Pauline (Pittard) Gillespie were Southern Baptist missionaries to China from 1931 to 1952. Their papers consist of biographical data; correspondence between the Gillespies, and from Roland Quinche Levell (1891-1963), president of the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and W. Edwin Richardson; Pauline Gillespie's life of her husband; photographs of the Gillespies and of buildings, teachers, and missionaries in China; and printed materials.
