Jean Batten Cooper, a Meredith College graduate (1954), created this oral history of Meredith College alumnae in 1988-1989. She generated these materials as a member of WFU's Master of Arts in Liberal Studies program. Materials present include audiocassettes, an interviewee and subject list, a VHS videocassette featuring interviewees, and interview transcripts.

Biographical and Historical Note
Jean Batten Cooper was born Myra Jean Batten to Jacob Freeman Batten and Polly Parrish Batten in 1932 or 1933. Cooper was a member of the Meredith College class of 1954. She was married to M. (Miles) Robert Cooper in 1956; he predeceased her in 2014.
Collection Overview
This oral history of Meredith College alumnae was created by Jean Batten Cooper of Winston-Salem, North Carolina in 1988-1989. Batten generated these materials in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Master of Arts in liberal studies at Wake Forest University. The 1995 interview is an addition to the collection.
The records consists of a cover sheet describing 24 interviewees and th subjects covered; 25 interviews on audiocassettes; and a VHS videocassette containing several monologues by the interviewees; the 1988 Meredith College Alumni Association meeting with attendees sharing their lives; a reproduction of a slide show with narration showing the doll collection representing Meredith College classes, and transcriptions of 23 interviews (1996).
