The Oxford Female Seminary was established in 1850 with Samuel Wait as President. Under President F.P. Hobgood from 1880 the seminary grew, and it was chartered as a junior college after World War I. The school closed in 1924. This collection contains announcements, articles published later about the school, catalogs, a commencement program, faculty information, gradebooks, legal records, photographs, property records, an alumni banquet program, report cards, and yearbooks of the seminary, Phoenix, and the college,  X-Ray).

Biographical and Historical Note

The Oxford Female Seminary was established in 1850 with Samuel Wait as President. Under President F.P. Hobgood from 1880 the seminary grew, and it was chartered as a junior college after World War I. The school closed in 1924.
