Biographical and Historical Note
Bethel Baptist Church, also called the Baptist Church of Christ at Bethel, was founded in November of 1890 near the Conley School on Pax Hill. It was the first church organized in that community.
Collection Overview
These reels of microfilm contain four minute books for Bethel Baptist Church of Morganton, North Carolina. Book 1 covers the period from 1890 to 1921. Book 2 covers 1930-1963. Book 3 covers 1963-1970. Book 4 covers 1970-1972. Although Book 4 contains only the minutes of the church's meetings, the other books contain additional records. Book 1 also contains the church's Articles of Faith and Church Covenant, as well as information on the pastor's salary. Book 2 contains additional financial information and the church's history. Book 3 contains membership lists and a list of church officers.
