In the library world, there seems to be a dichotomy among staff: you are either in “Technical Services” or in “Public Services.” This is a false dichotomy. No matter your role in the library, you are serving the library’s patrons. Technical Services staff can adopt a Public Services attitude by sharing their expertise, by trying to see their work the way the end-user sees it, and by speaking with product vendors to advocate for the library patrons' needs.
