전통적 국제협상이론에 대한 비판과 대안적 패러다임의 모색

Abstract

This paper intends to examine the traditional international negotiation studies based on validity of state-centric realism with the changes in international phenomena and analyze an alternative explanation of the conflict resolution theories. The purpose of conflict resolution theories is not simple to eliminate conflict, but to encourage the parties to reach a self-sustaining and mutually acceptable win-win solution through direct and open communication and facilitate analysis of the conflict. Conflict resolution scholars emphasize the importance of the negotiation efforts, process, and agreement for minimizing the possibility of military conflict and maximizing the chances for achieving peace.

My main line of argument is that conflict resolution, with its multi-level and multi-disciplinary approach, is able to reach and explain the phenomena pertaining to world politics at many levels of interaction. Conflict resolution approach does not only have explanatory power but also can generate the changes through negotiation and problem-solving workshops since it embodies both theory and the practical analytical tools.
