QoLT 기반조성사업의 의의 조명 : 센터 설립 및 발전 과정을 중심으로

Abstract

본 연구는 'QoLT 센터의 설립‧운영 과정 및 그 의의는 무엇인가?'라는 연구 문제를 바탕으로 QoLT 센터의 설립과정과 운영에 대한 구체적인 이해를 얻고 이를 토대로 그 의의를 밝히는 것을 목적으로 진행되었다. 이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 QoLT 센터 운영위원 5명, 실무자 5명, 과제 참여 학생 2명 등 총 12명의 QoLT 참여자들에 대한 면담 내용 및 홈페이지 및 보도자료, 워크숍 자료 등의 2차 자료를 분석하였다. 연구 결과 QoLT 센터가 설립되고 운영되어 오면서 과제 운영자와 실제 참여하고 있는 사람들 간의 경험에서 중요한 의미들과, 이를 통해 나타난 센터의 바람직한 운영 방향을 확인할 수 있었다. 이를 요약하면 크게 세 가지로 제시할 수 있다. 첫째, QoLT 센터 설립 배경에는 이상묵 교수의 시작점, 그리고 주변의 적절한 지원과 따뜻한 기술개발에 대한 사회적 요구가 있었다. 둘째, QoLT 사업은 우리나라에서는 최초로 시도되는 대규모 사업임에 따른 여러 가지 어려움이 있었으나 시간이 지남에 따라 변화와 성장을 거듭하였다. 셋째, QoLT 사업은 따뜻한 기술 개발을 현실화시켰고, 장애인 고등교육 지원모형을 탄생시켰으며, 장애인에 대한 인식을 확대하고 전환시켰다는 점에서 그 의의를 찾을 수 있다. 마지막으로 본 연구는 지난 3년간 QoLT 사업을 진행하면서 느낀 제한점에 따른 개선방안을 제시하였다.

This study was conducted in order to deeply understand the process of establishing and managing the QoLT (Quality of Life Technology) center. Interviews with 12 people (5 QoLT committee members, 5 team leaders, 2 students who have participated in QoLT programs) were conducted and their contents were analyzed. Secondary materials including the QoLT web site, newspapers, and workshop kits were also used as supplementary materials. The results were as follows. First, the personal efforts of the principal researchers and the societal need for 'warm technical development' urged the establishment of the center. Second, although the QoLT committee faced various barriers in the beginning, they gradually overcame the difficulties. Third, the QoLT project is significant in that it practiced 'warm technical development', created a higher education support model for individual with disabilities, and advanced disability awareness. Finally, future projects for advancing the quality of life for people with disabilities were suggested and discussed.
