Abstract Background: Over the years, studies have been carried out with the objective of analyzing whether there are trigger factors of labor, like the relationship between Premature Membrane Rupture (PMR) and lunar phases Objectives: To analyze the PMR prevalence associated to the lunar phases, to analyze the relation between the PMR and the age group; determine the prevalence of PMR per calendar year and age group, determine the prevalence of euthrotic and distal births per calendar year, determine whether there is a relationship between the type of delivery and the number of pregnancies. Methodology: Quantitative, longitudinal, descriptive and correlational study. The sample consists of 6437 participants who gave birth in the CHBV (between 2014 and 2017). Of this sample 1582 were admitted with the diagnosis of premature rupture of membranes. Data were collected on the "SClínico" IT platform, taking into account the variables: process number, diagnoses; number of pregnancies; type of delivery; age; date and time of delivery. The data were treated using SPSS version 24.0. Ethical and legal procedures have been ensured. Results: There was a predominance of the Waning Quarter in half of the analyzed years, with a significant statistical difference (p = 0.041). There was also a marked discrepancy between euthocic and distal births, with a difference of 34% to 66%, with the highest percentage occurring in the case of distal births. Conclusions: We can conclude that there is a predominance of the Waxing Gibbous in half of the analyzed years, although not significantly (p = 0.041). We conclude also that there is an increasing instrumentalization of labor, that is, the number of dystocic deliveries always increasing, reaching 73.3% in primigravidae and 66% in most cases.
