On verso of duplicate was stated: View of Chauncy Street looking toward Summer Street. This photograph taken some time after 1856 was verified by Mrs. Edward Lewis, 9 Park Street Boston May 1934. On left Judge Charles Jackson's house in [7] Bedford Place (Later, 1856 joined with Chauncy Place to make the present Chauncy Street.) Judge Jackson moved to Bedford Street in 1820 and lived there until his death in 1855. His large garden extended from his house on the left to Bedford Street. Then next again The First Church built in 1808. Removed to the corner of Berkeley and Marlborough Streets in 1868. The C.T. Hovey's, Hovey's Store at the corner of Summer and Chauncy Streets was on the site of Mrs. Gardner's house which was built in 1727 by Leonard Vassall.
