Abstract
Se destaca el importante papel que tuvo la estampa en la difusión de estética y tipos iconográficos en el ámbito Iberoamericano, centrándonos en una de las órdenes religiosas más extendidas en América, el Carmelo teresiano. La estampa, como contenedora de ideas y saberes, es un medio de conocimiento y de comunicación que se utiliza, además de para fijar conceptos en la memoria, para despertar la devoción y persuadir visualmente, a manera de sermón moralizador, y de manera especial como medio que, sobrepasando los valores humanísticos y artísticos, se ponía al servicio de los comitentes ¿la Orden del Carmelo, en el caso que abordamos¿ para difundir los principios que defendía, convirtiéndose en un importante vehículo transmisor de contenidos y valores estéticos.
The role played by prints is key in the diffusion of aesthetics and iconographic genres in Ibero-America; here we focus on one of the most widespread religious orders in America, the Teresian Carmelites. The print, as a receptacle of ideas and know-how, is a form of knowledge and communication that is used to reinforce concepts. In addition, it is used to ignite devotion and visually persuade the viewer in a special way, as a moralizing sermon. As a medium, it surpasses humanistic and artistic values at the service of the represented ¿in this case, the Carmelite Order¿ in order to diffuse its principles, becoming an important vehicle for the transmission of content and aesthetic values.
