O principal
A nossa investigação procura, desta forma, estudar a reconstrução do diálogo
Neste sentido, centrámos a nossa observação
portuguesa. Abstract: There was a great effort of the royal power to rebuild the Portuguese State after sixty years of the Dual Monarchy and nearly thirty years of war, redefining the Portuguese political action and discerning it from the political orientation of the Spanish monarchy. Once the peace treaty was signed with Spain in Lisbon on February 13th 1668, the Portuguese diplomacy was oriented in detaching itself from European issues, and trying to maintain its neutrality. Securing peace in the kingdom was their main goal, which was not easy due to the extremely complex international situation. Our research seeks to study the reconstruction of the Iberian dialogue, understanding the efforts made by Portugal to comply with the Treaty throughout the regency of Dom Pedro. We sought to give particular emphasis to the dialectic between the projected diplomatic lines and the circumstances of each diplomatic mission in Madrid from 1668 to 1686. In this perspective we focused our observation on the five Portuguese diplomats nominated for Madrid, looking to unveil their role, quotidian, the achievements and setbacks of these legations. We also focused on capturing the dynamics between the individual plan of the ministers and their integration into the broader plan of the Portuguese foreign policy. |
