Relação conjugal no pós-parto : diferenças de género

Abstract

A presente dissertação aborda o tema da adaptação à parentalidade, procurando obter informações sobre a forma como homens e mulheres reagem de forma distinta neste período de crise. O nascimento de um filho no seio de um casal ou família modifica radicalmente os equilíbrios anteriores - este processo de mudança exige um tempo de reajustamento, durante o qual o recém-nascido toma o seu espaço e se redefinem as relações entre os restantes membros. A forma como os homens e as mulheres vivenciam e se adaptam a esta transição parece diferir. Neste contexto, foi objectivo do estudo empírico comparar homens e mulheres na adaptação ao período pós-parto, em termos de relacionamentos conjugal e sexual, bem como na adaptação à parentalidade. Como tal, foram utilizadas diversos questionários: o Questionário Sócio-Demográfico, a Escala de Avaliação da Satisfação em Áreas da Vida Conjugal, a Maternal Adjustment and Maternal Attitudes Inventory, a Paternal Adjustment and Paternal Attitudes Inventory, o Índice de Satisfação Sexual e o Modelo em Comboio. Por fim, os resultados são apresentados e obtidos à luz da contextualização teórica.

In this thesis, we presente the theme concerning the transition to parenthood, seeking information on how men and women react differently during this period of crisis. The birth of a son in a couple or family can radically change previous established balances - this process demands a readjustment time, during which the newborn takes its space and the relationship between the remaining family members are redefined. The form as men and women live and adapt to this transition seams to diverge. Thus, the main goal of this study is to understand until what point the psychological adaptation after childbirth differs between gender. In this context it was na objective of this empirical work to compare men and women in adaptation to the postpartum period, in terms of marital and sexual relationships, as well as adaptation to parenthood. As such, several questionnaires were used: the Socio-Demographic Questionnaire, The Scale of Assessment of Satisfaction in Areas of Marital Life, the Maternal Adjustment and Maternal Attitudes Inventory, the Paternal Adjustment and Paternal Attitudes Inventory, the Index of Sexual Satisfaction and Convoy Model. Finally, the results obtained are presented and in light of the theoretical background.
