For this experiment, the Osakamaru and Taisenhonnaga varieties of egg plant, the Yamatosanjaku variety of cucumber, and the variety of melon Earl\u0027s Favourite were chosen. Their fruits were picked every five days beginning on the tenth day after their florescence. Some of the seeds were taken immediately after the fruits were so gathered, while some of the seeds were obtained from the fruits which had become quite soft due to \"after ripening\" treatment. The rate and percentage of germination, seed-weight and yield of seeds were determined and the results turned out to be as follows: 1. In case there is no \"after-ripening\" treatment, seeds become ready for germination forty days after florescence in Solanum Melongena L. and twenty-five days in several Cucurbitaceae vegetables. In case the \"after-ripening\" treatment is used, only ten to fifteen days are needed in Solanum Melongena L. and ten days in these Cucurbitaceae vegetables. ............... (Table 2, 3, 10,12,) 2. In case there is no \"after-ripening\" treatment, seeds germinate only when each fruit comes to the standard size of each variety, but when the \"after-ripening\" treatment is used, germination is possible even the size is one half the standard size. ............... (Table 7, 8, 11,) 3. In the premature fruits picked at the same time, the after-ripened ones show more yield in seeds, more weight and the rate of germination than those in non after-ripened. By the use of the \"after-ripening\" treatment, the rate of germination does not vary in comparison with the common one. ............... (Tabte 2, 3, 5, 10, 12, 13.) 4. Though the yield and weight of the seeds obtained by the \"after-ripening\" treatment are less than those of the seeds gathered through a routine process, no significant differences being found as long as the growth of young plants is concerned. .........
