Recently, new technology of super-long pulsed vascular lasers with skin cooling has been developed. The clinical objective in the laser treatment of vascular lesion is to maximize thermal damage to targeted blood vessels, while minimizing nonspecific injury to the overlying epidermis. The benefit of super-long pulsed vascular lasers is follows: (1) Wavelength of 595 nm is well absorbed by hemoglobin, but less well absorbed by melanin. The longer wavelength allows a greater degree of penetration. (2) Pulse duration ranged 1.5 to 40 msec covers the thermal relaxation time of small to large vessels. (3) Cryogen spray cooling protects epidermis from thermal damage. In conjunction with skin cooling such as cryogen spray cooling, the super-long pulsed vascular lasers can be safely used at higher fluences in the treatment of vascular lesions. 内容記述 | The development of short-pulsed, pigment-specific lasers during the past two decades has enabled physicians to treat a variety of pigmented lesions of the skin with a high degree of tissue selectivity and a low risk of postoperative complications. Recently, new technology of super-long pulsed vascular lasers with skin cooling has been developed. The clinical objective in the laser treatment of vascular lesion is to maximize thermal damage to targeted blood vessels, while minimizing nonspecific injury to the overlying epidermis. The benefit of super-long pulsed vascular lasers is follows: (1) Wavelength of 595 nm is well absorbed by hemoglobin, but less well absorbed by melanin.
