Resumen
OBJETIVO: Caracterizar el estado nutricional, patrones alimentarios y actividad física en población de 15 a 65 años en zona urbana de Cartagena, Colombia en 2015, estudio ELANS.
METODOLOGÍA: Estudio secundario con información obtenida de la base de datos del Estudio Latinoamericano de Nutrición y Salud (ELANS) con registro # 00006190 de la Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, tomando datos de la población de la ciudad de Cartagena; teniendo en cuenta las variables de: estado nutricional, actividad física e ingesta.
RESULTADOS: Participaron del estudio 114 habitantes de la zona residencial de la ciudad de Cartagena, de los cuales 59 eran hombres (52%) y 55 eran mujeres (48%), la edad predominante fue de 20 a 34 años de edad (38,6%), el mayor porcentaje de la población pertenece al estrato socioeconómico bajo (65,7%), y un 40,3% se auto reconoció como
mestizo. En cuanto al estado nutricional se encontró que: en el grupo con edades comprendidas entre los 15 y 19 años (adolescentes), en su mayoría tenían un estado nutricional normal (67% mujeres y 75% hombres), mientras que, en el grupo con edades entre los 20 y 65 años, el 54% de las personas presentaba algún grado de exceso de peso,
siendo más prevalente el sobrepeso; por otro lado en cuanto al índice cintura/talla, el 38% de la población presenta riesgo al tener dicha relación por encima del valor de referencia.
En cuanto a la actividad física, se encontró que el 40,5% de la población tiene una actividad
física insuficiente.
Para finalizar, se encontró que la población en general tiene una ingesta adecuada para macronutrientes, la cual se encuentra dentro del rango aceptable según las recomendaciones dadas por las RIEN (AMDR), sin embargo, en cuanto al consumo de grasa
saturada, colesterol y azúcar añadido, estos se encuentran por encima del rango aceptable dado por las RIEN.
CONCLUSIÓN: El exceso de peso tiene una alta prevalencia en los habitantes de la zona urbana de Cartagena, convirtiéndose en un problema de gran magnitud en salud pública, por lo tanto, es importante la implementación de estrategias enfocadas en la promoción de alimentación saludable y la realización de actividad física.
Abstract
OBJECTIVE: Characterize the nutritional status, dietary patterns and physical activity of the population aged 15 to 65 in the urban area of Cartagena, Colombia in 2015, the ELANS study.
METHODOLOGY: Secondary study with information from the Latin American Nutrition and Health Study (ELANS) database with registration # 00006190 from the Pontificia University Javeriana, in the sense of the population of the city of Cartagena; takes into account the variables of: nutritional status, physical activity and intake.
RESULTS: 114 habitants of the residential area of the city of Cartagena participated, 59 were men (52%) and 55 were women (48%), the predominant age was 20 to 34 years of age (38, 6%) , the largest percentage of the population belongs to the low socioeconomic stratum (65.7%), and 40.3% is automatically recognized as mestizo. Regarding the nutritional status it
was found that in the group with ages between 15 and 19 years (adolescents), while in their normal nutritional status (67% of women and 75% of men), while, in the group with ages between 20 and 65 years, 54% of people had a degree of excess weight, being more prevalent overweight; 38% of the population presents the risk of having a relationship above
the reference value. As for physical activity, it has been found that 40.5% of the population has insufficient
physical activity.
Finally, in the intake data it has been found that the population in general has an adequate form for macronutrients, which is within the acceptable range according to the recommendations given by the RIEN (AMDR), however, regarding the consumption of saturated fat, cholesterol and added sugar, these are above the acceptable range given by the RIEN.
CONCLUSION: Excess weight has a high prevalence in the inhabitants of the urban area of Cartagena, becoming a problem of great magnitude in public health, therefore, it is important to implement strategies focused on the promotion of healthy eating and the Realization of physical activity
