Abstract: ABSTRACT newlineOver the past decades, particulate reinforced Al-matrix composites gained the attention newlineof researchers and industries because of their lower processing cost and near-isotropic newlineproperties especially in those applications not requiring extreme thermal or loading conditions. newlineThe Metal Matrix Composites (MMCs), offers superior combination of properties newlineand hence are tried and used in numerous structural, functional and nonstructural applications. newlineLiquid phase fabrication of composite materials using solidification and casting newlinetechniques has long been considered economically viable owing primarily to low viscosity newlineof liquid metals, net shape-manufacturing capability of casting processes and flexibility in newlinedesigning the structure by controlled solidification. While looking for enhanced Mechanical newlineproperties in Particulate reinforced MMCs, Percentage fraction of particulate additions newlineand the solidification rate becomes the most dominant parameters during solidification newlineprocessing. Composite fabrication via stir-casting is adopted in the present investigation. newlineThe fabricated Al7075-Titanium Carbide(TiC) and hybrid composite Al7075-TiCMolydbenum newlineDisulfide (MoS2) is tested for their mechanical, thermal and wear properties. newlineSeveral Al-based MMC systems using particulates of B4C, WC, TiB2, BN, SiO2 and ZrO2 newlinehave been investigated previously. However, very limited work has been reported so far on newlineAl7075-TiC MMC and Al7075-TiC-MoS2 hybrid MMCs. The TiC reinforcement is chemically newlinestable and is known to possess high elastic modulus and hardness with elevated thermal newlinestability. The TiC stands as potential candidate for reinforcement in aluminum alloys. newlineAmong aluminum alloys, Al7075 has being used as matrix material by several researchers. newlineThe harder TiC and softer MoS2 is expected to be best-suited combination for Aluminum newline7075 alloy. The present thesis deals with the fabrication and testing for microstructural, mechanical newlineproperties and wear behavior of Al7075-TiC MMC and Al7075-TiC-MoS2 hybrid newlineMMCs. The composites are ma
