Abstract: | A Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) is an autonomous and decentralized wireless system. In this information exchange among the nodes through wireless communication and its do not depend on the infrastructure like access point or base stations. MANET have an attractive application in military, disaster management and commercial uses like sensor networks, conferencing, interaction among meeting attendees or students during lecture. The deployment of the MANET, however, poses several challenging issues, due to the dynamic nature of the nodes, arbitrary nature of topology, limited wireless range of nodes and transmission errors. The functions of the network layer are many and one among them is routing. Every packet is forwarded according to the route decided by the network layer, and hence the main function of routing protocol is to learn the available routes, build routing tables and make routing decisions. The main assumption of routing protocols is that the communication among the nodes is cooperative. Nodes are expected to work in cooperative manner in order to accomplish a reliable communication and high throughput in the network. However, some nodes behave selfishly by not forwarding packets to other nodes and save their resources for future purposes. Moreover, a malicious node may perform selfishly or purposefully disturb or totally break down the network. newline |
