Abstract: | newlineEvapotranspiration ET is one of the major components of the newlinehydrologic cycle Evapotranspiration links the water cycle and energy balance newlinetogether Conventional techniques that are based on the point measurements newlineare representative only at local scales but the results are not applicable to newlinelarge diverse areas The problem of actual ET estimation over a large area can newlinebe solved using remote sensing methods that provide ET on pixel by pixel newlinebasis The objective of this research is to estimate spatial distribution of actual newlineET from satellite remote sensing images at high spatial resolution This study newlinehas been carried out using Landsat 7 Enhanced Thematic Mapper sensor newlineThe Surface Energy Balance Algorithm for Land SEBAL was newlinedeveloped to estimate actual ET The Thermal Infrared TIR remote sensing newlinedata is very essential in the estimation of the actual ET However for a newlinemajority of satellites spatial resolution of thermal band is coarser which newlinereduces the fidelity of ET calculations The spatial resolution of the resulting newlineET maps is determined by the pixel resolution of the TIR sensor newline newline |
