Abstract: | Staphylococcus aureus is the bacterium that causes common skin infections to life threatening diseases Currently this Staphylococcus aureus is known to acquire resistance against different antibiotics Staphylococcus aureus has been exhibiting a peculiar type of resistance against antibiotic in particular for the and#946; lactum based antibiotics Hence the resistance Staphylococcus aureus is now described as Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus MRSA There is an alarming death rate of invasive infection of MRSA and it has been observed in many health care centers Therefore the study of MRSA infection becomes important in nosocomial samples The outbreak of resistant form MRSA varies from region to region So the resistant property has also been suggested on region base The molecular studies and genetic studies on MRSA revealed that mecA genes in Staphylococcal Cassette Chromosome SCC is responsible for the resistant trait The mecA genes are found in the bacteria encoding penicillin binding protein 2a PB2A which has low affinity for beta-lactam The presence of mecA gene is considered for the identification of MRSA from susceptible strains The prolonged investigation by several research workers on the line of MRSA antibiotic resistant mechanism made open a new idea on the intrinsic influencing factors This has resulted in novel findings on the role of efflux pump The efflux system prevents the extraction of antibiotics and reduces the intracellular concentration of antibiotics The genetic studies on the above aspects have revealed that the expression of norA and qac A genes are in efflux pump resistant mechanism newline |
