Abstract: Biomedical prosthetic devices are used in human body to carry out newlinethe functions that are no longer performed by the original human parts Metals newlineare used in the human body mainly for orthopaedic purposes Their newlinedegradation by wear and corrosion must be negligible so that they can be used newlinefor various practical applications Among the various metallic materials that newlineare used for orthopaedic devices 316L stainless steel is the most commonly newlineused materials It is frequently employed for temporary devices in orthopedic newlinesurgery because of its low cost and acceptable bio compatibility However newlineunder some conditions this alloy suffers localised corrosion and releases newlinesignificant quantities of iron to its neighbouring tissue thus inducing fibrosis newlinearound the implant Hence the prostheses should possess and also ensure high newlinemechanical resistance newline newline
