Abstract
The paper provides an overview of climatic changes, rainfall patterns, meteorology, and climate variability patterns in local climates south of the Sahara for the five urban centres chosen for the study: Cape Town, South Africa, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania; Maputo, Mozambique; Windhoek, Namibia; and Port St. Louis, Mauritius. South Africa alone can be divided into 11 climatic regions. This annex is part of a wider study “Sub-Saharan African Cities: A Five-City Network to Pioneer Climate Adaptation through Participatory Research and Local Action.”
