Mapa y Territorio. Estado del arte de las políticas de gestión de imagen territorial.
Abstract
Each territory evokes different images for stakeholders that are linked with it. When these images are managed in a conscious manner by the States, one can speak of territorial image policies. Is there an academic field that encompasses them? What characteristics define it and which of them addresses specifically developing territories? With these questions as guide, I analyze territorial image policies of developing countries, regions and cities through academic papers between 2004 and 2014. The analysis shows the predominance of marketing approaches, which determine relations of representation which tend to reproduce global commercial stereotypes, turning territories into commodities.
