ABSTRACT: The aim of this report is to analyse the main problems the labour market is currently facing in the EU.
In order to do this, we will analyse countries in northern and southern Europe from 2008 when the economic decline began until present times.
In this respect, we will carry out a study of the labour market according to the standard rates of the market such as unemployment rates or employment rates. However, I will try to analyse this further by considering other facts such as the fiscal gap, the minimum wage rate or the active and passive policies.
Furthermore, I would like to show how all these facts differ in northern and southern countries and how these differences have worsened during the recession.
