ABSTRACT: Currently, industry is immersed in the so-called Forth Industrial Revolution (4IR). It aims at improving efficiency, productivity, quality and safety of industrial processes thanks to the digital connection and communication among all the involved resources. This digitization will greatly benefit virtual scenes’ creation at low cost, simulations of processes under real conditions and access to relevant information in real time, among others. In this area is where augmented reality and virtual reality will play an important role and, therefore this TFM aims at studying available technologies and its maturity level in order to incorporate them into mobile applications which support industrial processes such as carrying out maintenance tasks in the industrial environment or control and monitor the different elements deployed on it. As a proof of concept, a rendering engine, which could be easily integrated into Smartphones, is built. It includes the following functionalities: scan QR codes, show contents in augmented reality, show data in real time, use the gyroscope and the accelerometer of the mobile phone and use voice recognition for actions on the engine. The augmented reality module has been development for mobile phones with iOS and Android operating systems using Xamarin.Forms as framework for the integration of technologies.
