ABSTRACT The gender concept is a social construct with which men and women have participated in history in different ways, with women reamining most of the time considered less than men and the narrative giving priority to politics and military history, forgetting issues such as the domestic sphere.
At some history periods, women’s contributions are easily recognized because they participated in politics or similar processes. However, in other periods as Prehistory or Antiquity, their voices are often silenced. In the classrooms, all the students should be represented and teachers can do a great co-education job, but even nowadays, text books have some of the responsability.
Therefore, this investigation wants to analize some of the text books used in the first year of secondary school during 2018-2019 with the aim of finding out to what extend gender stereotypes persist within their content, and encourage reflection about the use of didactic materials which are used in the classroom.
