内容記述 | This longitudinal study examines the career prospects of first-year college students in the faculty of education. The participants were 178 first-year college students, who completed the questionnaires administered by the career education committee of the faculty of education in both the first and the second semesters. The correlation analysis results suggested that having clearer career prospects were related to having stronger sense of adaptation to college and better perceived self-management skills. The present study also conducted cluster analysis based on the changes in the scores of the career prospect scale between the first and the second semesters. Seven different types of students with career prospect scores were generated. The “stable”group of career prospects was divided into 5 different levels based on their scores; high, above average, average, below average and low. The “declining” group of career prospect were divided into 2 different types based on their scores; declining from average to low and from above-average to average. The analyses of variance (ANOVA) were conducted to illustrate the characteristics of each type. The results indicated that students with “declining from average to low” scores in the career prospect scale might feel difficulties in self-management, academics, and adaptation to college lives. The students with “declining from above-average to average” scores in the career prospect scale, on the other hand, might have the sense of adapting to the college. The results also suggested that students with “stable below-average” scores in the career prospect scale might perceive difficulties in finding interests in the learning experience in the faculty of education. Besides, the students with “stable-low” scores in the career prospect scale might not only perceive difficulties in finding interests, but also struggles in acadomic, self-management, and adaption to college lives. Based on the findings, the possible student supports, which would be designed specifically for each type of students with career prospects, were discussed. | |||||
