Abstract
I participated in the Manuscript Department's internship program during the fall of 1980. In many ways, m y experience there was that of a typical intern. I, too, observed the Manuscript Department collecting, preserving, and making available to the public historical manuscript materials. I participated in many of,the department's day-to-day operations. I paged, shelved and xeroxed material., typed up phote orders, answered correspondence, re-housed collections, and arranged and described collections. Since I was devoting forty hours a week to t.he internship program, I was also given the opportunity to work on some of the department's special projects. In particular, I worked on an exhibit of maps that will be mounted in October of 1981. I helped with an exhibit of prints that opened in November of 1980, and researched the history of Christ Church, Philadelphia. My notes on Christ Church have been used by Peter Parker for an up-coming H.S.P. publications: A Reader's Guide to the Christ Church Archives.
