Abstract
This literature review explores the community-based participatory research orientation in the field of health in the United States. Providing an understanding of the developing relationship between health and sustainable development, this paper will examine the reasons as to why there has been a change in the way research is conducted. The essay will investigate what distinguishes these different research orientations, where the visible implications from these differences manifest, and the sustainability of these research orientations (social, political, cultural, and economic).
