Abstract
In discussing a documentary of a trip on the John Muir Trail and the Pacific Crest Trail, the author writes "I learned many things on this trip including how to cope with being by myself and how capable my body really is. I have pushed my body and mind to new challenges and experiences that I have not experienced before. There are many other that I learned from this trip and I could write another entire paper on the many things that I learned about myself physically and mentally, and the things that I learned from other people while I was on trail. Most of these are shown in the documentary, but the most important thing that I learned is that I love doing this and it is something that I will be doing for the rest of my life. This is more than just enjoying a hobby for me because I have hobbies that I enjoy doing, but this is different. I feel like I need it and can't live without it. I believe that this was an appropriate project for me because it was very challenging and I was pushed more than I usually am. Preparing for this took me about half a year and it was something that I have never done before to this extent. It has prepared me for future trips that I might go on and has helped me anticipate what challenges might come up. This documentary was not meant to be very educational, but more of a way to spark an interest in other people for the outdoors and want to get outside. That way, they can fall in love with it as much as I did and start to build a relationship with nature and see everything it has to offer."
